SMILE

Some smiles are not genuine.

Sometimes smiles could serve as a mask that makes others and even oneself ignorant about his/her inner thoughts and feelings.

This piece utilises SFX makeup to portray the pressure people tend to have about putting certain masks on to fit into certain groups. However, similar to “Lost”, what is hidden underneath may be completely different from others’ views, and their state of mind may be the complete opposite from the smiles they put on every day. An interaction between a living person and an inanimate sculpture is being shown through this photo, and it’s to pose a question about the definition of being alive and human. Is hiding our inner feelings and emotions part of being human?
